Small Success Thursday: Unexpected Free Time

Small-Success-Thursday-400pxIt’s Thursday, so it’s time for Small Success over at CatholicMom.com!

Field Day at school was rained out. That meant I had four bonus hours that I wasn’t going to be spending at school hovering over Little Brother hanging around in case Little Brother’s glucose monitor went ballistic at his increased physical activity. So I came home and:nutrition label chicken tomato fennel CM

  • started 3 loads of laundry
  • did the grocery shopping
  • finished next week’s Tech Talk for CatholicMom.com (hint:  it’s on one of my favorite subjects–FOOD!)

And now I’m off to pick up a boutonniere for Middle Sister’s prom date. Please pray that the theme song for tonight’s event won’t be “It’s Raining on Prom Night.”

Make CatholicMom.com your next stop! Cheer everyone’s successes and crow about your own. Don’t have a blog? Leave yours in the combox.

  1. THREE LOADS!? I am impressed! 3 loads of laundry takes me all day to do, from about 6 AM to 6 PM (we have an older washer & dryer). BTW, what’s the nutrition label for?

    • It’s a teaser for next week’s Tech Talk. But if you want to see the recipe, it’s over at my cooking blog: http://cookandcount.wordpress.com/2014/05/22/chicken-with-tomatoes-fennel-and-basil/

I have to work out the carb count of everything I cook in order to correctly dose my 12-year-old diabetic.

And you will notice I said “STARTED” 3 loads of laundry. They did eventually go all the way through. Plus, keep in mind that my kids range from 22 to 12, so they are less needy on an every-moment basis than yours are at this stage of the game.

      • WOW that pasta dish looks delicious! In fact, one could probably tweak it a bit with whole wheat flour and whole wheat pasta, right?! Then it would be even healthier! 🙂 Thanks for sharing; sorry I spoiled the teaser. And I see your point about “starting” laundry. Yes, I imagine having kids in the age range you mentioned is much, much different than where we are with our preschooler and toddler.

  2. No, you actually DIDN’T spoil the teaser. I still haven’t given it away! 🙂 But it’s OK if I do…
I only linked to the cooking blog. You’ll have to stop by CatholicMom.com next Thursday to find out the story behind the label.
The counts on the recipe do not include the pasta, because that varies by brand and type. I hope you try and enjoy this one! 🙂
My kids need me in very different ways than yours do. Emergency runs for prom boutonnieres, recipe “tech support” over the phone…you never know what to expect!
