Small Success Thursday: Retail Therapy WIN

Small-Success-Thursday-400pxThursdays at CatholicMom.com begin with a look at the past week’s Small Successes!

Yesterday was a rough day and I was having trouble getting my mind off things. With an hour to go before I had to pick up Little Brother at theater camp, I had to get out of here and do something completely different. (My waistline–or lack thereof–can’t handle too much more Chocolate Therapy. Even if I did go to the gym early yesterday morning.)

So I headed over to the local shopping center where there’s a Staples and a HomeGoods:  2 out of my 3 favorite places to browse (add a bookstore and we’ve got a hat trick.)

-1-

Clearance Sale FTW! I found a terrific new bathmat at HomeGoods for only $9. The regular price was $30, and I refuse to spend that much on a bathmat. At Staples, I picked up a few sets of earbuds for $3 each. My kids are very hard on earbuds, and the expensive ones don’t last any longer than the cheap ones, so cheap it is!

One of my kids used one of my favorite kitchen tools and left it too close to the flame on our gas stove. I found a replacement at HomeGoods–even nicer than the ruined ones–for only $5. BONUS:  the new ones are blue, which matches my kitchen. These tongs are workhorses around here.

I repackaged Little Brother’s “diabetes carry-on” in a large pencil organizer I found at Staples for $5. This is much less bulky than the multiple small pouches and huge Ziplock bag he had been using.

One side holds his care plan, Glucagon and book to look up carbs.

The other side holds testing supplies and an insulin pen.

  1. What fabulous finds! I like what you did for your son’s diabetes supplies — fantastic!

  2. Thank you! I am continually organizing those diabetic supplies. He has to carry all that with him no matter where he goes–PLUS a supply of snacks. This is relatively flat, so it’s string-backpack ready.
