It’s Thursday, and you know what THAT means: time to celebrate some Small Successes with the CatholicMom.com community! Whether you have a blog of your own or leave your successes in the comments box, this is the day to give yourself a star for a job well-done.
1. I baked yesterday! Every Wednesday we have folk group practice at my house. It’s more comfortable than the church, it’s kid-friendly, and we make sure to celebrate each others’ birthdays. I took a bit of a risk yesterday by “inventing” a recipe for Maple-Walnut Cupcakes, but it all worked and boy, they were good.
That’s where the red star comes from.
2. I made it through my 2 days of substitute teaching last week. 3rd grade and middle school are SO very different. It was exhausting, but in a good way.
3. I defrosted the freezer yesterday. (We have So.Much.Chicken in there! Note to self: stop buying chicken for a while!)
And, of course, we’re still rejoicing over this week’s Big Success: my husband’s one-year cancer-free anniversary!
Stop on over at CatholicMom.com to share your Small Successes and applaud everyone else’s!
That’s an awesome anniversary! Congratulations!
Thank you! HUGE relief!
Those cupcakes sound so good!
Thanks! I was really pleased with how they came out. I’m going to write up the recipe and put it on my recipe blog–hopefully I’ll get that done soon, and I’ll include the link back here.
Substituting was hard. I agree.
AND – I got a good chuckle out of your chicken comment. We buy too much too!
Blessings,
Em
We’re always eating chicken. I can’t imagine how there is still so much of it in that freezer.
I agree with Sherry – an awesome anniversary indeed! I cannot even imagine the relief you must be feeling.
And those cupcakes look and sound awesome! Great idea!
Thank you!
After a hard day of substituting, nothing hits the spot like maple-walnut cupcakes after a steaming plate of chicken stew. 🙂
Stew!!!!!! I’ll be right over.
mmmMmmmm maple walnut muffins! Can’t wait for the recipe!
Congrats on a very special anniversary!
love the red star, way to go with the teaching and congrats to your husband and your whole family!
Those cupcakes look so good! I would ask for the recipe but w/o the walnuts they wouldn’t be nearly as good!
Here’s the cupcake recipe if anyone wants it! I’m also going to link it into the post. http://sfomomfridge.blogspot.com/2013/11/maple-walnut-cupcakes.html
Woohooooo!
And you always have a knack for making me droooool, Barb! 🙂
